Monty travels to Ireland to the Combined Canine Club Shows with great results.

Day 1 - 1st Excellent in Junior Dog and awarded the CACIB-J under Colm Hastings

Day 2 - 1st Excellent in Junior Dog under specialist Eva Eriksson then 1st Excellent in Junior Dog and awarded the Green Star and BEST OF BREED under Oleg Belkis.

What a weekend!

This litter was planned very strategically to try and improve the DNA Health Tests results for both DM and CEA. I'd chosen Dawn's sire specifically to achieve a long term goal of breeding CEA Clear genes in my collies as well as DM Clear. Dawn is a DNA Carrier for both conditions so my first goal was to find a DM Clear sire who would compliment her to produce a mix of DM Clear and Carriers, whilst acknowledging that she would only product CEA Affected and Carrier. My goal was to keep a male who was DM Clear and CEA Carrier.

There were 3 males in the litter, all showing a lot of potential. The DM results came back first; 2 were Clear and 1 was a Carrier. By 8 weeks, Monty was showing signs of being pick of the litter so imagine my delight when his CEA results came back to show he was a CEA Carrier and the other 2 boys were Affected. Decision made, Monty stays! And looks to be fulfilling that early promise.

At 6 months old, he was raw but with bags of potential. Length of leg, back and neck with super front and rear angulation and a clean head, all you can ask for as a raw baby. At his first show, just days after turning 6 months, he won Minor Puppy Dog. We then hit the open shows with great results winning the following,

Yorkshire Collie Club Open Show - 1st MPD, BPD & BPIB - Georgina Howard, then BPIS - Tony Iley

Cheltenham & DCS - 2nd Junior & BPIB - Josie Hadley-Large

Wath, West Melton & DCS - 1st Junior - Louise Bermingham

What a start to his career, I can't wait to see what his future holds.
